Dumfries Girls Football Club

Dumfries Girls are the only girls football club in Dumfries and Galloway.

We aim to provide football for girls to encourage health, team working and fitness through sport in fun and safe surroundings.

Why play for Dumfries Girls?

It’s fun,

you make lots of friends and

you get to play football with lots of other girls just like you.

Where do we play?

We train and play matches at Kingholm pitches in Dumfries. There we have use of the pavilion for changing and hospitality.

In the winter when the evenings are dark we rent facilities at King George V, the Loreburn MUGA and the Maxwelltown High Sports Hub.

Who can play?

We have girls from under 11 through to under 17’s and are affiliated to the Dumfries Ladies F.C. to allow transition from under 17 to senior football. You don’t even have to be any good, as long as you want to play you can.

Which leagues and competitions do we take part in?

We participate in the SWFL South West Leagues at under 13, 15 and 17 age groups.

In these leagues we play teams such as Hamilton Accies, Celtic, Kilmarnock and Rangers.

We compete in both the League Cup and Scottish Cup competitions.

What about player pathways?

Our players have access to the South West Regional Development and Elite squads. We have several players attending the Elite Squad training sessions which are based in Hamilton. We have even had a couple of girls representing Scotland at under 15 level and under 17 level.

Do we have qualified coaches?

We have a small team of coaches with a mixture of youth and experience.

We aim to continue our coaches’ training and development by encouraging them to take advantage of the SFA and also the D&G Council Coach Education programmes.

What about child protection?

We have a designated Child Protection officer and all volunteers and coaches are required to undergo enhanced disclosure.
